Load-Bearing Builds
To build taller and wider, first answer one question: will it hold?

No.011Valheim01The core loop
Action → feedback → next choice- 01Place a piece
- 02Read the support signal
- 03Add pillars or better material
- 04Expand or collapse
↻Feedback changes the situation — the next round starts from there.
Walk through one round
A simplified design example. Situations and numbers illustrate the mechanic, not exact rules from a reference game.
- T1
Turn 1 · The situation
A four-tile balcony juts from the second floor; the outer tile shows red.
- T2
Turn 2 · The player chooses
Add a wooden post under tile three down to the ground.
- T3
Turn 3 · The feedback
The outer tile turns yellow and can hold a railing.
- T4
Turn 4 · The next decision
Heavier decor will need a stone column.
How it plays
Each piece draws support from the ground or a support; the farther away, the weaker, and past the limit it breaks or falls. Colors, cracks or prompts show the weakest spot. Stronger materials span farther but cost more.
What the player weighs
- Open space or dense pillars
- Cheap and many, or costly and sturdy
02Start small
Scope is an editorial estimate for the minimum prototype, not the reference game or a production schedule.
03One mechanic, different implementations

Valheim
Pieces show structural integrity from blue through green and yellow to red, weakening with distance from the ground; stone and iron beams reach higher.

RimWorld
Roofs need walls or columns within a set distance or they collapse on whoever is below; mining under mountains can trigger cave-ins.
The difference worth noticing
Valheim makes support a central creative constraint on vertical builds; in RimWorld it shows up mainly as roof span and mining risk.
Case notes are Yoroll editorial summaries; rules may change between versions.
04What could you combine?
Let enemies break supports: blowing a pillar collapses the platform above, so flankers can force defenders off high ground.

Holding Back the Water
Water is both lifeline and disaster; keep it where it belongs.

Roads and Entrances

What Counts as a Room
Four walls are not always a room; meet the rules and it starts working.

- Solo decisions
- 01Enclose a space
- 02Add required furniture
- 03The game checks the room
- 04Gain a function or resident
