In the air you rotate the vehicle so it lands on its wheels, not its roof.

Walk through one round
A simplified design example. Situations and numbers illustrate the mechanic, not exact rules from a reference game.
- T1
Turn 1 · The situation
A steep jump with a 30-degree downslope landing; the vehicle launches nose-up about 20 degrees.
- T2
Turn 2 · The player chooses
The player leans forward about 50 degrees to align with the downslope.
- T3
Turn 3 · The feedback
Both wheels touch down almost together, keeping most speed and beating the last time by 1.2 seconds.
- T4
Turn 4 · The next decision
Obstacles follow the next jump, so the player weighs taking it slower.
How it plays
Once airborne, players lean or use throttle and brake to rotate the vehicle so wheels match the landing slope. A good angle preserves speed; a bad one flips, crashes or costs heavy time.
What the player weighs
- Flip for points vs land safely: flips pay but raise the crash risk.
- Speed vs control: faster launches fly further and are harder to adjust.

03One mechanic, different implementations

Trials Rising
Players shift the rider's weight forward or back to rotate in the air and land precisely; bad landings add faults or crash the rider.
Hill Climb Racing 2
Gas and brake rotate the vehicle in midair, flips earn bonuses, and landing on the driver's head ends the run.
The difference worth noticing
Trials chases precise race times, while Hill Climb Racing 2 leans toward casual distance and reward collection.
Case notes are Yoroll editorial summaries; rules may change between versions.
04What could you combine?
Cargo shifts the center of mass and heavier loads rotate slower in the air, so players trade more cargo income against midair control.

Airborne Trick Boost
Pull a trick while airborne and land with a boost, but land mid-trick and you pay for it.

Drift-Charge Boost
Hold a drift longer for a bigger release boost, but hold too long and you run wide.

Countdown Launch
Hit the throttle on cue in the countdown to rocket off; too early and you spin.
