No.096Cookie Clicker01The core loop
Action → feedback → next choice- 01Grow until gains slow
- 02Check prestige points earned
- 03Reset for permanent boost
- 04Blitz past old progress
↻Feedback changes the situation — the next round starts from there.
Walk through one round
A simplified design example. Situations and numbers illustrate the mechanic, not exact rules from a reference game.
- T1
Turn 1 · The situation
Three hours in, hourly growth is under 5%; resetting now yields 12 points at +10% output each.
- T2
Turn 2 · The player chooses
Another hour would add just 2 points, so the player resets now.
- T3
Turn 3 · The feedback
Output starts at 2.2x and the old peak is passed in 40 minutes.
- T4
Turn 4 · The next decision
The player starts optimizing the next reset point and saving for an unlock.
How it plays
When growth stalls the player can reset most progress, earning a prestige currency based on how far they got. It grants global multipliers or special upgrades, so the next cycle covers hours of old progress in minutes.
What the player weighs
- Reset now vs push longer: waiting yields more points but costs ever more time.
- Spend points on raw multipliers vs new mechanics: speed now or variety later.
02Start small
Scope is an editorial estimate for the minimum prototype, not the reference game or a production schedule.
03One mechanic, different implementations

Cookie Clicker
Ascending wipes buildings and cookies, granting prestige levels that boost production and heavenly chips spent on heavenly upgrades, both scaled by lifetime baking.

Clicker Heroes
Ascension grants Hero Souls that boost damage while held and can be invested in Ancients for passives; a deeper Transcendence layer comes later.
The difference worth noticing
Cookie Clicker splits prestige into a multiplier and an unlock currency, while Clicker Heroes makes holding versus spending souls the tension itself.
Case notes are Yoroll editorial summaries; rules may change between versions.
04What could you combine?
Let a reset keep one shop-shelf layout, so players must decide which display earns back fastest in the fragile early game.
