Walk through one round
A simplified design example. Situations and numbers illustrate the mechanic, not exact rules from a reference game.
- T1
Turn 1 · The situation
Whip is level 7, one away from max; its partner Hollow Heart is missing and two passive slots remain.
- T2
Turn 2 · The player chooses
When Hollow Heart appears, the player grabs it over an attack-speed passive.
- T3
Turn 3 · The feedback
After minute 10 a chest evolves the whip into a life-stealing form and pressure drops sharply.
- T4
Turn 4 · The next decision
The player now plots the second weapon's evolution.
How it plays
Certain weapons pair with specific items; at max level, with the partner owned and a trigger met, the weapon evolves. Recipes may be discovered by experiment and logged in a codex, becoming build goals.
What the player weighs
- Chase the recipe vs take the best card now: setting up an evolution can cost immediate power.
- Slot cost vs flexibility: recipe parts occupy scarce slots.
02Start small
Scope is an editorial estimate for the minimum prototype, not the reference game or a production schedule.
03One mechanic, different implementations

Vampire Survivors
Most weapons evolve when maxed with their paired passive and a chest is opened after about 10 minutes, such as Whip plus Hollow Heart becoming Bloody Tear.

HoloCure - Save the Fans!
Two specific weapons at max level can fuse into a Collab weapon from a box, merging their two slots into one.
The difference worth noticing
Vampire Survivors pairs a weapon with a passive, while HoloCure fuses two weapons and frees a slot in the process.
Case notes are Yoroll editorial summaries; rules may change between versions.
04What could you combine?
Make evolved weapons cost less loadout budget, so completing a recipe becomes a way to squeeze in an ability that didn't fit.
